Today, with increasing energy crunch and higher costs that we have to pay for our modern lives, it is important that the focus turns towards energy that is sustainable and can be renewed for the future generations as well. With the natural and traditional energy resources like oil, coal being depleted across the world, it is estimated that, there will come by a severe energy crunch, which needs to be prevented by starting off a focus on sustainable energy forces.
Today the main focus is on new technologies and new sources of energy that are renewable and sustainable. One such technology focus is on solar panels. These are in their initial stages of development and there are several limitations that need to be overcome before the technology can be harnessed worldwide. At the present moment the governments of different countries are providing incentives to those who are harnessing these alternative sources of power. Similar are the harvesting of wind power through wind vanes.
Different kinds of renewable resources
There are different sources of energy that are renewable and sustainable even in the future. The solar panels are one such example followed by the energy that can be generated from ocean waves, the windmills and others. The traditional energy resources like crude oil or fossil fuels are depleting their supply and are not being renewed at the same rate due to which experts predict that the world will soon run out of these energy resources.
Efficiency of the energy resources
The energy resources that are being sought out as alternatives need to be easy to generate as well. That cannot be said for the present state of technology of solar panels, but the progress has been considerable and the same technology is being harnessed in homes, cars and businesses generate and sustain the power needs of communities. There is a need for greater demand to be seen in the use of these energy sources that will translate to easier means and most advanced technology available in the market.
There is another aspect of energy sources that is the impact on the environment. Traditional
fossil fuels are known to have created several adverse effects like global warming, adding pollutants to the air and other hazards to living communities. The burning of fuel produced by chopping wood has led to wide scale deforestation in many areas. Hence, the need for cleaner fuel that will not harm the environment or the way it is harnessed need to be looked at as well. The way solar panels convert sunlight to power might have some polluting effects as the panel production methods create toxic byproducts. Even wind turbines that generate clean energy are not produced in a sustainable manner.
